I happen to live in the “colonial” town of Lexington Massachusetts, birthplace of the American Revolution. April 19 was Patriot’s Day, a yearly holiday that marks the anniversary of the very first battle of the American Revolution in 1775. On that day, the Minutemen assembled on our Lexington Green to take a stand against the Redcoats of England. Shots were fired and the war was on. Every year on Patriots Day costumed re-enactors swarm the Green. As I passed them I began to ruminate on their lives and their legacy and how it relates to…MULTIPURE, of course!
I have often heard that in those days, the water was so bad that rather than drink it, people drank hard cider and home brewed beer instead. In fact, when the Minutemen got the call to assemble on the Green for battle, they were all gathered in Buckman’s Tavern adjacent to the Green at 5:30 in the morning. I don’t think they were there to drink orange juice! Anyway, it’s interesting to recognize that even in those days, the water was not fit to drink. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
Ultimately the good guys won the war and in the Declaration of Independence they declared “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness”. Well, I got to thinking about that statement and realize that it could also be an accurate description of Multipure, the product and the business. How so?
